A distinctive and extremely versatile actress, Liz has honed her skills over the course of more than 35 years on stage and screen. She is well known for her grounded truthfulness, emotional vulnerability, and considerable range. Currently, she can be seen as the formidable Donna Raines in the MGM+ series FROM, alongside Harold Perrineau. Recent feature credits include ALL MY PUNY SORROWS starring Mare Winningham, Alison Pill and Sarah Gadon, and the indie feature DOOR MOUSE. Previous features include New Line’s widely acclaimed IT, GIRL starring Mickey Rourke and Bella Thorne, and indie feature CLIFTON HILL starring Tuppence Middleton and David Cronenberg. She recently co-produced and starred in the short film SMOKEBREAK, which premiered at Female Eye Film Festival in July 2023.

 

​In episodic television, Liz received great acclaim as series regular Frances Thorp in MARY KILLS PEOPLE, for which she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award. and as Catherine Owens in SURREALESTATE. She has been featured in CLARICE, WHEN HOPE CALLS, ALIAS GRACE, as well as guest appearances in the Emmy Award winning series ORPHAN BLACK, TRANSPLANT, THE HOT ZONE-ANTHRAX, IMPOSTERS, SCHITT’S CREEK, V-WARS, PRIVATE EYES, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, and fan-favourite SLINGS AND ARROWS. She is the voice of Mrs. Turtle on Nelvana’s popular series FRANKLIN THE TURTLE, and provided both the voice and motion capture for Emma Child in Ubisoft’s WATCH DOGS: LEGION, as well as numerous voices for Flying Squirrel’s innovative videogame THE VALE: SHADOW OF THE CROWN.

 

​Liz has performed on stage extensively throughout Canada, including playing leads for several seasons with the Shaw Festival. Selected recent credits include Puck in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, for which she is nominated for a My Entertainment World Award, Jaques in AS YOU LIKE IT and Shelley Levene in GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, and I in 4:48 PSYCHOSIS.

 

She is a respected acting instructor and coach who has taught for a number of Canada’s most respected theatres and theatre education programs, as well as being a freelance theatre director. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta and an MA in theatre and Performance from the University of Toronto. In her Liz-time she is an ever-learning writer, sewist, and painter. She is married to actor Cliff Saunders, with whom she has two marvelous children, and confesses to also being a doting dog and cat mom.
